Theater Preview, Spring 2019

I can say with a reasonable degree of certainty that January and February and, to a somewhat lesser degree, March, are my least favorite months in New York. It can be bitterly cold, a layer of dirty slush seems to coat the ground everywhere you go, and there is a kind of post-holiday, pre-Spring ennui that seeps into my bones and cannot be shaken until the city begins to thaw. It’s been an especially difficult couple of months this year because I’ve been so busy at work, but I’m trying to survive the remainder of the restless season by reminding myself that I’ve got a lot to look forward to this Spring: a visit from my mom over Easter, principal photography of the first real film I’ve worked on, a birthday expedition to Egypt, a close friend’s wedding, a trip home to watch my brothers graduate from high school. But among the things I’m most excited for are all the terrific new shows I’ll be seeing on (and off) Broadway this season. The proximity to some of the best theater in the world has always been my favorite part of living in New York, so I try to make the most of it, and 2019 will be no exception. Here’s a quick preview of some of the shows I’m most pumped to be seeing over the next couple of months:

If Phoebe, Keri, Annette, Jake, Laurie, Kelli and co. can’t lift my weary spirit and massage the life back into me, no one can, so I am eagerly anticipating the all of the thrills, chills and frills they have in store for me and the rest of old New York this Spring.
