TIFF 2019 Wrap-Up

I’m back from TIFF this morning after a bit of a whirlwind (but completely wonderful) weekend in the North. I didn’t get to see early as many movies as I would have liked (partially because I just didn’t have the time and partially because my assistant fucked up buying the tickets I wanted), but I did get to see a few, specifically two I loved and two I hated.

5/5 stars

No one else will like this as much as I did, but I absolutely loved it. Rueful, elegant melodrama! Calgon, take me away.

2.5/5 stars

This one will do it for a lot of people but it did NOT do it for me. At all.

4.5/5 stars

My expectations for this were pretty low based on things I had heard, but I absolutely loved it. A magnum, feminist opus.

2/5 stars

Bad movie.

An Education

5/5 stars

Caught a free outdoor screening of this one, an all-time favorite of mine, on Saturday night. If I could give it more than five stars, I would. I still love it as much as I ever did.

Bummed to be missing out on the rest of the festival, but looking forward to hearing what others think of the rest of films that will be premiering there.
