A Star Is Born

I’ve been obsessed with Florence Pugh, properly obsessed, since I saw her DAZZLING turn in 2016’s Lady Macbeth. It was the strongest screen debut (or thereabouts) I’ve seen in a very long time (other than Timothée Chalamet), and I’ve devoured every performance of hers since, all of which have been tremendous (even in some very lackluster projects). She is an immense talent, and such a fresh, interesting, and engaging screen presence, who I think has a tremendous career ahead of her.

Which is why it is so exciting to see her getting the Oscar buzz I have no doubt she deserves for her work as the loathsome Amy March in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women (which, it’s no secret, I am positively salivating with anticipation over, especially after the glowing first reviews).

I cannot WAIT to see this film, but even having not seen it, I’m already fully on board the Florence Oscar train. This girl is MAJOR, and I hope she breaks out this award season in a major way, because she has got the goods. She’s got them in spades.

xx
